Torrential rain might have dampened the clothes but not the spirits of the HPCT's golf classic crowd. Our players and volunteers dried off, waited for the sun and started again, got rained on again, played some more, ate dinner and the day ended with all sprinting to their cars in yet another downpour. I take full responsibility for the rain since I boasted earlier in the day that it had NEVER rained during one of our golf tournaments. Even with the rain, it was a great day.
Congratulations to Alan Pike, Rick Callicutt, Rick Sawyer and John Bencini for winning the tournament. Curt Jacobs, Tom Walsh, Bill Shamburg and Dave (last name unreadable due to rain drops) came in second in the tournament but first in trips to the beer cart.
Thanks to our golfers, sponsors, volunteers, prize donors, Chick-fil-A, Outback Steakhouse, Cheerwine and the Meadowlands Golf Course for making our tournament such a success. Early reports show a profit of $8000.00 (the appx cost of the orchestras for our two large musicals next year).
A special thanks to our Golf Guru Ed Cornwell. Thanks for all that you do to make this event happen. You are appreciated!
