Thank you for all of the letters and phone calls that you are making to county commissioners concerning the elimination of funding to community based organizations, and even more specifically, to arts organizations. Now that you have been heard, we need for you to be seen at the budget hearing this Thursday, June 21.
The Guilford County meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The agenda does allow for 30 minutes for speakers from the floor. If you wish to speak, you might want to get there by 5:00 in case you have to sign in on a first-come, first-served basis which is sometimes the case. Since this meeting is about the budget, there may be many groups who want the opportunity to speak from the floor assuming this is at the beginning of the meeting and not after the budget … we will have to play it by ear when we get there. We need at least two to three people from High Point speaking on the importance of the arts in this city!
The Guilford County meeting is held in the Old County Courthouse in downtown Greensboro on Market Street … it is on the right just after the intersection of Market and Eugene Streets. Street parking is available on Greene (which is the next street after the courthouse) and in the Greene Street parking deck.
Please wear something that says “arts” whether it is a t-shirt from an arts program, such as an HPCT Show, Midsummer Players, etc., or wear red which signifies that we are passionate about the arts.
