Advocates Needed

At Arts Day in Raleigh a couple of weeks ago, we learned that the NC State Board of Education is going to standardize requirements for graduation across the state. However, they have not included an arts requirement for graduation. And if the arts are not required for a student to graduate from high school, then there goes the programming and funding for the arts in elementary and middle schools too!

The arts are important to education and to the future of our city, county, and state. If you agree, please write members of the SBE and join the movement to add an arts requirement for high school graduation.

If you are willing to to write members of the State Board of Education or would like additional information, please email jblevins@hpcommunitytheatre.org and I will forward addresses and more info to you.
